ORGANIZATION PROFILE

The State Oral Health Division headed by the Deputy State Health Director (Oral Health) functions as an administrative centre for all oral health services in the state of Perak.  There are 10 District Dental Health Offices namely, PKPD Kinta, PKPD Larut Matang dan Selama, PKPD Hilir Perak, PKPD Hulu Perak, PKPD Kuala Kangsar, PKPD Manjung, PKPD Perak Tengah, PKPD Batang Padang, PKPD Kampar and PKPD Kerian. Each District Dental Office is headed by a District Dental Officer.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STATE ORAL HEALTH DIVISION
The Perak State Oral Health Division is a unit under the public health program and is responsible inimplementing oral health activities through a network of public health facilities in 10 districts. The overall planning, monitoring and evaluation is done periodically at the state level to ensure fulfillment of objectives through emphasis on patient-centred oral healthcare and smart partnership in overcoming health problems.

OBJECTIVE OF THE DISTRICT DENTAL OFFICES
To implement comprehensive oral health activities for the population through promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation and to continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency of services delivered.

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE STATE ORAL HEALTH DIVISION & DISTRICT DENTAL OFFICES

a)      To plan and implement oral health services through oral health programmes and activities.
b)      To monitor and evaluate the efficiency of oral health programmes and activities.

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF DENTAL CLINICS

a)      To provide primary dental services to population from all walks of life.
b)      To provide specialist dental treatment to those in need.  These services are provided by the Orthodontists, Periodontists, Restorative Specialist only through referrals. (Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine & Pathologist and Pediatric Dental Specialists are not included in the scope of MS ISO 9001:2008 of the State Oral Health Division)
c)       To provide promotional and preventive dental services.
